Young People Can Get Diabetes
Diabetes Action Month 2025
In 2025, we focused on tamariki and rangatahi because young people do get diagnosed with diabetes (both type 1 and type 2) and the numbers are rising at an alarming rate.
By raising awareness of the signs and symptoms in our young people, we aim to empower tamariki, rangatahi, their whānau, schools, communities and health professionals, to recognise the signs and take action. The earlier diabetes is diagnosed, the better the chances of managing it well and living a full, healthy life.

Know the signsAnyone can develop diabetes at any age. That’s why it is important to get tested if you, your tamariki or rangatahi you know or care for is showing signs or symptoms of diabetes.
